Scissor Lifts

Scissor Lifts

The scissor lift or platform lift, is a mechanical industrial lift that may be tailored to be used in retail, wholesale, manufacturing and production environments. Industrial scissor lifts have been used primarily within production and manufacturing facilities for many decades to successfully raise and lower materials, people and other equipment. The scissor lift is a platform with wheels that operates like a lift truck. It is convenient for duties that call for the mobility and rate of transporting people and materials into the air.

Scissor lifts can reach anywhere from 6.5 to 18.8 meters or 21 to 62 feet when totally extended. It is not like other types of lift trucks that utilize a straight support to hoist its platform, rather it has folding supports directly underneath the platform that come together to stretch the platform upwards. Accessible with either an electric or hydraulic motor, the scissor lift provides a bumpy ride due to the lift's design that keeps it from traveling with a steady velocity. Instead, it travels more rapidly in the middle of its journey and slows down with additional extension.

Since the first scissor lifts were produced in the 1970's, they have experienced countless enhancements in the materials used and security features added, while still keeping with the same base design. Closely related to the forklift, scissor lifts are in actuality notorious for their effectiveness and portability, as they are the only industrial table lift that can be easily kept in a corner spot in the office. They are most oftentimes utilized indoors from warehouses to automotive restoration, these equipment function in many diverse worksites completing many unusual projects.
